Tummy Time Class

Baby & Me Tummy Time Class (0-6mo)

This class offers a unique and comprehensive approach to tummy time by integrating the expertise of an occupational therapist and a pelvic floor therapist. Our program is designed to address both infant gross motor development and parent body mechanics and ergonomics. This collaborative, one-hour class aims to foster a positive tummy time experience for infants while supporting parents in achieving optimal posture and preventing strain or injury.

Infant Development:

  • Educate parents on the benefits of tummy time for infant motor skill development, including strengthening neck, shoulder, and core muscles.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective tummy time techniques tailored to different developmental stages (0-6 months).
  • Address common challenges, such as infant fussiness or resistance to tummy time, and provide strategies to overcome them.

Parent Wellness:

  • Teach proper body mechanics and ergonomics to parents during tummy time and other infant care activities (e.g., feeding, lifting, and diaper changes).
  • Provide a safe space to discuss what is normal or expected at each phase of postpartum and answer any burning pelvic floor questions.
  • Create an environment where parents feel supported in caring for their own physical wellness while meeting their baby’s developmental needs.

Baby & Me Purposeful Play for Crawlers & Movers Class (5-12mo)

This class is tailored for parents and their babies aged 5-12 months, focusing on movement and development milestones. Led by an occupational therapist and a pelvic floor therapist, the program addresses both infant gross motor skills and parent movement mechanics. The class is ideal for babies who are sitting independently, preparing for crawling, using alternative crawling patterns, or showing signs of skipping crawling. By providing expert guidance, we aim to support healthy movement patterns for both infants and parents.

Infant Development:

  • Promote crawling readiness and proper movement patterns through engaging activities.
  • Address alternative crawling patterns and educate parents on their implications.
  • Provide strategies for encouraging crawling in babies showing signs of skipping this milestone.

Parent Wellness:

  • Teach safe and effective ways to support and interact with crawling infants, focusing on reducing strain on the back, shoulders, and pelvic floor.
  • Provide exercises and movement tips to enhance parental strength, flexibility, and posture.
  • Provide a safe space to discuss what is normal or expected in each phase of postpartum and answer any burning pelvic floor questions.
  • Foster a supportive environment where parents can learn and connect.
